Marcus : « I won every stage and it doesn’t get much better than that. The car is fantastic and I have the tool to beat Solberg and Loeb – and that’s a good feeling. I made a good start this morning but I knew that I had to build on that. I was leading by 40sec after the first morning on the last rally in Sardinia. But by Saturday night I was at home watching Finland win the Eurovision Song Contest on television, so that’s how quickly things can change. The stages were really rough this afternoon but the Focus was great. There were so many rocks lying on the driving line but that is what the Acropolis is all about. We had no problems and I hope it stays that way until Sunday so that I can be in the same position then«
Petter Solberg : “Today I felt the car and new Pirelli tyre were very good and gave me the chance of a good battle. The last three stages of the day were difficult to drive as we took an extra spare wheel for safety after the punctures this morning. That’s Greece though and it is the same for everyone, but it made the car a bit more tricky to drive and not so good to attack. We’re having a good fight out there and I’m looking ahead to try and get closer to Marcus.”
Sébastien Loeb : « Je ne suis pas mécontent. Nous avons en cours, pour la première fois de la saison, la bagarre à trois pilotes et trois voitures que tout le monde attendait. C’est assez excitant. D’un autre côté, je ne cacherai pas que je ne suis pas dans la position que je préfère. Au premier tour, je savais que j’allais ‘balayer’ et concéder du temps. Par contre, j’espérais mieux du deuxième tour. Ce n’est pas faute d’avoir essayé ! Je n’avais pas opté pour le nouveau BFGoodrich H2, mais mon choix de pneus m’a semblé bon. J’ai donné tout ce que j’ai pu, mais apparemment je n’étais pas le seul. Pour demain, je dispose avec Petter d’un excellent sparring-partner. Essayer de le passer est la meilleure solution pour me rapprocher de Marcus… De toute façon, je maintiens la pression… »
Duval : “It was a perfect day. Tomorrow we will keep the same pace as today and we will keep on the same set-up”.
Gardemeister : “Not very good position. We want to go better. We have to find out, how to do it”.
