Les analyses des pilotes en fin de journée (conférence de presse) :
Petter : « The starting position gave me an advantage on the morning loop of stages and we were able to make the most of it, but we struggled to match that pace on the stages in the afternoon. The ground temperature during the last two was more than 40 degrees and even with our hardest tyres we had to work very hard to keep the speed. Tomorrow I think the first loop of stages will be okay, so I’ll do all I can to make up more time, but like today I reckon the second time through will be hard work. In general though the feeling is good but after what happened in Australia and Japan I’m not making any predictions. I’m taking one day at a time. I’ll do my best and we’ll have to wait and see what result that gets us.»
Hirvo : « Today has been good for my confidence, The Focus RS is easy to drive and I loved it out there. I have so much confidence in it and it’s encouraging to set times similar to Loeb and Solberg. I didn’t know the damper was leaking, but I knew I had a problem in stage five. The wheel rim was broken so I must have hit a stone but I’ve been hitting them all day! I slowed for the final 10km but as I didn’t know what was wrong, I pushed hard again on the next stage»
Séb : « La journée a été assez satisfaisante mais surtout prévisible… Comme je vous l’avais dit, le fait de passer dans les premiers sur la route a été pénalisant, on voit bien les écarts entre les 2 tours. Globalement, je suis satisfait de cette journée, au 1er passage, je ne pouvais pas faire mieux, j’ai attaqué, j’étais souvent à la limite. On avait de nouveaux réglages qui ne m’ont pas spécialement plu, donc a l’assistance de midi, on a changé et remis ceux que je connaissais le mieux et la, rien à redire ! Bon, c’est vrai, la route était aussi bien balayée… Mais j’avais un meilleur feeling. Etre à moins de 10 secondes de Petter ce soir, c’est bien…demain je vais continuer sur la lancée, je ne vais rien relâcher et on sera à armes égales…»
Marcus : « I entered the left corner too fast and then slid into a ditch on the right bend. The car ended on its side and we pushed it back onto four wheels but couldn’t regain the road. It was my mistake. I was attacking too hard and tried to brake late, I think I can still score manufacturer points here»
